🌲 The Rustic Retreat is located in a peaceful rural setting surrounded by nature. Guests may encounter wildlife, insects, and seasonal farm-country conditions that are part of the authentic countryside experience.
🐾 We welcome well-behaved dogs, but please note that the yard is not fenced. Additional pet fee applies.
❄️ An additional air conditioning unit is located in the loft to help keep guests comfortable during warmer summer months.
🔥 The stone fireplace is decorative only and may not be used.
🚫 Please note that the cabin does not have a dishwasher, washer, or dryer.
🏹 Hunting on the property is not permitted unless specifically arranged through a separate hunting lease with the property owner.

We celebrated our 9 year anniversary weekend here with our mini golden doodle. The cabin was amazing. It was really cozy and had so much natural light. We really enjoyed sitting out on the deck and walking around with our dog. There isn’t much to do nearby so definitely keep that in mind but it was nice to just relax and unwind. Perfect for a couple to getaway and would also be fun with family or a group of friends.

Fantastic place. I can’t say enough. This place is wonderful, beautiful, and amazing. Truly a find. If you are debating it, don’t. Have some family and friends get together and spend some quality time together. Or just a weekend for a couple. Will not disappoint. Very clean. Very peaceful.

Wonderful stay, and one we will want to return to. Excellent rental, with cool explorations for a city dog. Host was very communicative throughout. Would recommend for anyone looking for some peace and quiet away from normal lives, especially with a dog.

Absolutely perfect property. The host was quick with responses and easy to talk with. Checked in after first 24hrs with making sure everything was good, only thing I wish this place had was washer and dryer with staying a week at the property but honestly that’s a small concern and would recommend to anyone to stay.

We had a wonderful stay at The Rustic Retreat while in the Freeport area dropping our son off for college. It was exactly the kind of peaceful and comfortable place we needed during such a busy and memorable trip. The cabin is beautiful, incredibly cozy, and surrounded by such a quiet, relaxing setting. Everything was clean, well thought out, and had everything we needed. You can tell a lot of care has gone into making the place feel welcoming and special. Our only regret is that our schedule was so busy that we didn’t get to spend nearly as much time at the cabin as we would have liked! We would have loved another day or two just to slow down, enjoy the property, relax, and take in the surroundings. Phil was a great host, and everything from check-in to communication was seamless. We would absolutely stay here again when visiting our son and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway in the area. Five stars all around!

Amazing place far away of the noise Not enough light inside

We had a great stay here! It was very nice and quiet. We were missing toilet paper charcoal and roasting sticks but they delivered them when we mentioned it. The outside backyard was not cleaned up when we got there by the charcoal grill. The overall stay was great though.
